Hong Kong 2012

Just got home from Hong Kong!

I am privileged to be invited by my parents. I know it costs a lot to travel specially outside the Phlippines. I am grateful that this trip was made possible!

The trip has allowed me to experience a lot of firsts! First, is that I was able to ride an airplane. To be honest, my mind was filled with imaginations and expectations I watched from shows and movies. Action movies make the image of airplanes scary.

The area of the Hong Kong International Airport is probably four times that of Ninoy Aquino International Airport! They said HKIA is actually one island.

Second, the culture I experienced was totally different. I witnessed how their society moves during a regular day when we walked the streets of Hong Kong with our tour guide. Their main transportation are buses and taxi cab. Although readily available, still a lot of the people walk using the overpass. People who eat in the fast food chains are busy people, they eat and leave. Unlike Filipinos, they do not stay long and chit chat.

Moreover, I get to talk to different people. LOL random talking is random. Got to talk with American people and of course Filipinos. We experienced the market and it was hard to communicate since not all Chinese people knows English. I remember two sales person. One is a pretty girl who sells accessories and the handsome guy who sells smartphones. I mean, I can't easily find attractive persons here just like that HAHA.

Food was also something different. We had our breakfast in the hotel we stayed but for lunch and dinner we must eat out. We tried eating in a stall that in tagalog we call "carinderia". I ordered something Japanese. My mom and dad ordered a Chinese one. It was noodles, a HUMONGOUS serving of noodles. The taste of the vegetables dominated the meal. Nevertheless, it was the taste that made it unique.

Furthermore, what I liked was the local fish ball sold which tasted more like curry. It was the best street food that I had.

I also tried "Green Tea" ice cream. The taste... I want YOU to try it out. Find out how it tastes. Don't die without tasting it. I'm not going to comment. I'm just going to say, GO AND TASTE IT WHEN YOU SEE IT.

I enjoyed hot tea more than ever. Hot tea is not popular here, but I began to show some appreciation to hot tea during my stay there.

I had fun in Disney Land in which I felt I was in a wonderland. LOL. It was meant to feel that way. I am aged 22 and I did enjoy that place. I captured awesome pictures! I really did take A LOT of pictures especially during night time since the lighting just nailed it. We went to Ocean Park, but I burned my time watching the Panda's! Really my favorite part were the panda's. I even saw one of them poop. I never saw a cute poop in my life. HAHAHAHA. We also rode a cable car in Lantau Island, saw a biiiig buddah and ate more chinese food.

Oh and yes, I could have shown you the pictures I've captured although the SD card got CORRUPTED and it ruined my entire plan of a new profile picture just a while ago. Just. Plain. Bull.

But anyway I can still see the images in my mind and even amnesia can't erase that memory of mine!

LOL.

All in all, our trip was fantastic! I'd love to go back with friends.
I may have some irritating moments but yeah, we can forget about that ;)

  2. ya it is cool to experience a different kind of culture. actually, their way of living interests me. i think disney land and other views are just a plus but the real deal is their culture -- it is interesting to compare from our country. really, it is much better experiencing than just reading on the internet or learning in the classroom because you get to talk to people and learn. XD
